My very favorite holiday tradition would have to be our family white elephant Christmas party! We take an outrageously funny, themed pic to send out as invites to set the tone! Then we have each person handmake a gift to exchange. Our first party, back in 2001, produced fun but simple gifts. Now we are 14 years in, and the gifts have turned into nothing less than an amazing assortment of creativity, humor, beauty, and most of all, FUN! I hope our little family tradition lasts for decades. It's that Christmas morning feeling, but for adults!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is driving around town with my family looking at the Christmas lights on houses and decorations in the yard. I used to hate it as a kid, but now I'm the one dragging my parents and husband out every year!

We celebrate my grandpa's and cousin's birthdays on the 21st of December, and On that day everyone stands around the kitchen table and begins preparing our Christmas meal that we'll have four days later. Homemade enchiladas! Sometimes it's not just that one particular day, but the season of focusing on family.

Making white chocolate covered chex mix, pretzels, and m&ms with my mom. We never had a good name for it and people ask every December--"will you be making that white stuff this year?" So we coined it "Christmas crack" as it is very addictive.
