Rustic Prep Rehearsal Dinner

Today this shoot was featured on the Ruffled Blog pop on over and check it out!

I was recently inspired by images of Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection which has been described as Bohemian Prep. As I began to play around with how this might translate into wedding design, Rustic Prep came to mind and the ideas began to flow from there.

To keep in line with a preppy color palette, I chose to focus on navy, cream, mustard, apple green, with just a touch of red. Because of my love for old movies, I thought it’d be cool to somehow incorporate it into a shoot. That’s when the concept for a rehearsal dinner themed “Dinner & A Movie” was born.

In my head I knew of the perfect location to pull this off. I wanted the setting to be rustic and a bit unusual. A local dairy provided the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities. The idea was the guests would arrive and enjoy a dinner al fresco with the hills of the dairy farm and the sunset in the background. Following dinner, guests were invited to create their own sweet or savory popcorn with toppings that included sea salt, caramel, rosemary infused olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. With popcorn and refreshments in hand they cuddle up with blankets and pillows under the stars to watch an old 8mm movie.

Rustic Prep details of the day included a table built from a vintage door, old cafe chairs upholstered in navy and cream stripes, a popcorn buffet set atop a vintage dresser adorned with bunting and antlers taken straight from the dairy, a plaid invitation and striped menu, placecards printed on kraft tags, and a vintage ladder which held blankets and pillows encouraging guests to cuddle up during the movie. This concept could easily translate into a couple’s shower, next-day brunch, or rehearsal dinner.

What to wear?

So, not only do you need to find the perfect wedding dress, you also need to find the perfect shower dress. Actually you also need to find the perfect rehearsal dress. I know sorry to stress you out, but dresses can be hard to find. I have done you a favor and scouted out a few I love and I hope you do.

Time to Rehearse

As you know we offer our event design for any occasion weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers ect. One of my favorite events to do besides a wedding of course is a couples rehearsal dinner. It is such a fun time to really showcase the bride and groom in a more intimate setting. I love rehearsal dinners with a more casual and laid back theme.

Check out these uber detailed events.
